Villaraigosa widens lead over incumbent Hahn in early returns in LA mayor race
City Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa surged ahead of Mayor James Hahn in early returns Tuesday as he sought to take down an unpopular incumbent to become the city's first Hispanic mayor in more than a century. With 28 percent of precincts reporting, Villaraigosa had 119,044 votes, or 58 percent, to 86,150 votes for Hahn, or 42 percent.
VIVA!! It's nice to know that a son of Mexican immigrants is still able to make it these times of multi-million dollar campaigns and stuffy congregations of white guys with cigars...
